2019 Testimony – 5

Honorable Members of the Judiciary Committee,

Please OPPOSE Raised Bill 6355

Courts have identified seven key elements in procedural due process; 1. Notice 2. A neutral decision-maker 3. An opportunity to make an oral presentation 4. The opportunity to present evidence 5. The opportunity to cross-examine witnesses and respond to evidence 6. Right to representation by counsel 7. A decision based on the record, and reasoning for the result. Raised Bill 6355 does not do this; rights are taken away first. Therefore, I’m strongly opposed to Raised Bill 6355 AN ACT CONCERNING RISK PROTECTION ORDERS OR WARRANTS.

Please SUPPORT Raised Bill 6491 An Act Concerning Nonlethal Electronic Defense Weapons.  It is important for everyone to be able to defend themselves, no matter the means.  In fact, stun guns are not lethal so I would think it would be acceptable to make them legal for self-defense.  If you’re not a criminal, stun gun use for self-defense should be legal!  See the SCOTUS case Caetano vs Massachusetts!

Thank you,
