2019 Testimony – 9

Sen. Winfield, Rep. Stafstrom, and Members of the Judiciary Committee:

My name is [YOUR NAME], I am from [YOUR TOWN], I’m asking that you not support any further restrictions on the law-abiding citizens. Connecticut gun owners are once again the target of more restrictions.

Please vote:

NO on S.B. No. 60 AN ACT CONCERNING THE PRESENTATION OF A CARRY PERMIT. Don’t allow a “Stop and Frisk” law in Connecticut. Currently, police officer are allowed to ask for a permit and permit holder have to show an officer their permit if there is a suspicion of a crime.

NO on H.B. No. 7219 AN ACT CONCERNING GHOST GUNS. It’s already illegal to make an “assault weapon” at home. Enforce the hundreds existing gun laws already on the books.

NO H.B. No. 7223 on AN ACT CONCERNING SAFE STORAGE OF FIREARMS IN AN AUTOMOBILE. Gun owners shouldn’t be prosecuted for being the victim of a robbery. This is victim shaming.

YES on H.B. No. 5227 AN ACT CONCERNING THE REGULATION OF FIREARMS BY MUNICIPALITIES. Towns shouldn’t be able to put further restrictions on Connecticut legal firearms.

YES on H.B. No. 5870 AN ACT CONCERNING TRANSFER OF ASSAULT WEAPONS AND LARGE CAPACITY MAGAZINES. This will not increase the number of firearms or magazines over 10 rounds in this state. It will just allow the current owners to transfer them to other owners.

YES on S.B. No. 940 AN ACT AUTHORIZING CERTAIN PERSONS TO CARRY HANDGUNS IN STATE PARKS AND FOREST. Permit holders should be allowed to carrying in State Parks and Forests for the purpose of self-defense.

Vote to protect the rights of your constituents and Connecticut residents.

Thank you for your time.
