ACTION ALERT: H.B. 5653

Ammo Tax bill is in front of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee on Wednesday and you are needed now!

This is the FIRST of THREE hearings we expect for gun bills.  Expect 2 more action alerts, one could be in just a couple of days!

Two ways to advocate for your rights at the public hearing:

  1. Submit written testimony by 8 am, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 (earlier is better).
  2. Sign up in advance to speak at the hearing.  This year you may speak in person or virtually via zoom.

Testifying is a lot easier than you would think. All the information you need is below.  At the VERY LEAST you can spend a few minutes to write testimony.  The anti-gun side is motivated and will be emboldened if YOU let any more anti-gun legislation go unchecked.

To submit written testimony click here.  On this form you may upload a written statement or utilize the on-screen form.  Be sure to be clear and state that you OPPOSE H.B. 5653 in your testimony.

Some talking points you may wish to consider when writing your testimony:

  • H.B. 5653 will make it hard for people already struggling in our economy to own and train properly
  • H.B. 5653 would be on par with consideration towards a sin tax
  • H.B. 5653 responsible gun owners are being penalized for the actions of criminals
  • Guns and ammo are ALREADY subject to an additional 11% tax on top of the CT sales tax

Will you spend a few minutes to protect your rights?
